I want to work for a real estate office. What course do I have to complete?

To be employed as a salesperson or property manager in a real estate office you will need to successfully complete the Real Estate Salesperson Licensing course. Upon successful completion you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment. To be licenced in Queensland, you must be eligible to apply through the Office of Fair Trading. More information about the application for the licence can be found on the Qld Office of Fair Trading website.

I am considering buying or opening a real estate agency. What Licensing do I need?

You will require a Real Estate Agent Licence. To be licenced in Queensland, you must be eligible to apply through the Office of Fair Trading. More information about the application for the licence can be found on the Qld Office of Fair Trading website.

A Real Estate Agent Licence allows you to:

· own or manage a real estate agency

· buy, sell, exchange or rent houses, businesses, land or any interest in these

· negotiate on behalf of a buyer, seller, landlord or exchanging or renting of houses, businesses or land

· show property to potential buyers

· inspect and assess property for sale or rent

· collect rent on behalf of a landlord

· advertise a property for rent or sale (includes setting up signs)

· open up a property for inspection for sale or rent

· manage an apartment complex and sell any units independently, without having to work through an established agency

· operate a trust account on behalf of sellers and buyers.

Please note: you may not auction property under this licence.

No you do not. Following are details of the authorised activities of each Licence:

I am new to the real estate industry. What courses do I have to complete?

To be employed as a salesperson or property manager you will need to successfully complete the Registration course for Real Estate Salesperson. Upon successful completion you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment. You will then need to make application for your Certificate of Registration to the Qld Office of Fair Trading. This form and relevant information regarding fees are available from the Office of Fair Trading website.

I am considering buying management rights. What qualifications or course do I need to complete?

To operate the letting side of a management rights business you require a Resident Letting Agents license. We would suggest completing a Full Real Estate Course but it is not mandatory for doing management rights.

What is the difference between an RLA (Resident Letting Agent) and a Property Manager?

A Resident Letting Agent (RLA) is permitted to manage properties within the complex that they have the management agreement of.

An RLA Licence does not allow you to sell property within this complex.

A Resident Letting Agents License allows me to do?

– rent out and manage units in a building complex (on behalf of the owners and body corporate)
· collect rents in the complex
· operate a trust account.

What course do I need to complete to become a Property Manager?

You will need to successfully complete the Real Estate Salesperson Licensing course. To be licenced in Queensland, you must be eligible to apply through the Office of Fair Trading. More information about the application for the licence can be found on the Qld Office of Fair Trading website.

What other fees after completing my training are involved?

Upon successful completion of your course you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment or qualification. You will then need to make application for your Certificate of Registration to the Qld Office of Fair Trading where you will find a list of fees and conditions.

If I study online, how long will it take to complete my course?

Because it is a self-paced programme we allow a 6-month period to complete your training.

Are your courses approved by the Government?

Yes, Property Training Australia is accredited under a national set of standards agreed upon by Government and Industry bodies which assures consistent high-quality training and assessment nation-wide.

Is Property Training Australia a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) approved by the Government?

Yes, Property Training Australia is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Our registration number is 41241.

What is meant by Recognition of Prior Learning?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a systematic process to accredit learning gained inside and outside formal educational institutions. Property Training Australia offers all students an opportunity to apply for RPL.

Do you offer payment plans?

You may request to pay by instalments by emailing the College. The following conditions apply:

1. Students (excluding those applying for Recognition of Prior Learning) are eligible to apply for payment by instalments.

2. Subject to verbal and written confirmation, and an assessment of the student’s ability to pay, the CEO may approve and initiate a “Payment by Instalments” plan for the student.

3. If approved the student must submit a signed application and pay an initial deposit as agreed.

4. The balance of fees must be paid in the agreed instalments. Fees are payable in advance on an instalment basis.

5. Students paying by instalments may not apply for further courses while there is an outstanding balance.

6. Failure by a student to remit payment of an instalment on time may result in withdrawal from that course until the outstanding payment is made and will be liable for the full outstanding balance.

7. No results, qualifications or statements of attainment will be issued to a student while there is an outstanding balance of fees due to Property Training Australia.

Is my license nationally recognised? Can I use it across Australia?

No. It is only applicable in QLD however some of the units of competency you successfully complete during your training are transferable when applying for courses in other States.
